Transboundary Water Governance Training for Namibian Officials

CUVKUN in partnership with the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) with support from UNDP in Namibia and funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF)  facilitated a specialized training initiative on Transboundary Water Governance for the Republic of Namibia officials, from key ministries responsible for water, energy, international relation, NAMWATER and NamPower.

The training  took place from 8 – 9 December 2025 in Otjiwarongo, Namibia and was facilitated by international water law experts, and included key aspects of international water law, water allocation, and negotiation strategies in support of transboundary water cooperation.

The two-day training program was designed to enhance institutional capacity and reinforce the effective governance and cooperation of the shared Cuvelai and Kunene River Basins. Building on this workshop, the CUVKUN Project will be supporting the development and delivery of a similar transboundary water governance training program for the Republic of Angola in 2026.
