CUVKUN Holds Fourth Project Steering Committee Meeting

The CUVKUN Project held its fourth Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting in Lubango, Angola on 18 November 2025. The PSC is the primary governance body responsible for overseeing the project’s strategic direction and ensuring it achieves its objectives. Its role is to provide high-level guidance, make key decisions, and ensure accountability throughout the project’s lifecycle. The one day meeting was attended by the Cuvelai Watercourse Commission CUVECOM (CUVECOM), the Kunene Permanent Joint Technical Commission (PJTC), the UNDP, Global Water Partnership Southern Africa and water sector stakeholders.

A review of the progress on the project, discussions on the rate of implementation and deliberation on the strategic direction regarding the implementation of joint management of the Cuvelai and Kunene basins was the key focus. The meeting endorsed the 2026 workplan and budget, representing a critical milestone for the Cuvelai-Kunene project.  In addition to reaffirming the project’s strategic direction, the PSC formally approved a comprehensive set of activities and funding allocations designed to accelerate implementation in line with regional transboundary water governance priorities.
