The CUVKUN Project recently commenced a mission comprising of a series of consultations with stakeholders in order to validate the data and information collected from data hosting institutions in both Angola and Namibia from 15-26 September 2025.
The mission also undertook field work to confirm the existing network for production and monitoring boreholes in both parts of the basin, in northern Namibia and southern Angola, and, where possible, perform water quality tests. Led by the SADC Groundwater Management Institute (SADC-GMI), with support from the CUVKUN Project Management team and coordination from the Cuvelai Groundwater Task Team (CGTT), the meetings kicked off in Windhoek, Namibia.
Initial consultations were made with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR), Geohydrology Division, the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy’s Directorate of Geological Survey and Namibia Water Corporation Ltd (NamWater). The mission continued with field activities such as visits to the production and monitoring boreholes in Namibia and Angola.
